Diaspora Vote
Frequently asked questions
Could this change be used for fraud?
The main risks come from the voter lists and mail voting, not from a document's expiration date. That is why our proposal includes death record checks, proof of residence abroad, face verification, and published statistics, which make the system more secure than it is today.
Why only biometric documents?
Because the state holds a verified photo and fingerprints for them, so identity can be confirmed remotely no matter how long ago the document expired.
What if I only have an old nonbiometric document?
You would need one in person visit to a consulate to record your biometrics. After that, you are in the system for good.
Who can sign the petition?
Albanian citizens aged 18 or older, living abroad or in Albania, can support this request.
Can I vote with an expired document today?
This petition does not change current rules and is not voter registration. Consult the official Central Election Commission guidance for the requirements in force.
Is this campaign affiliated with a political party?
No. The coalition is nonpartisan. This petition concerns the right to vote, not support for any party or candidate.
Won't permanent registration inflate the voter lists?
Not if it's done right. Our proposal requires address confirmation before each election and automatic removal based on civil registry records, so the list stays accurate.
Why do I need to verify my signature?
Email or SMS verification helps prevent fake and duplicate signatures. Your email address or phone number will not be included in the list delivered to institutions.
